Since I can’t make it to class as regularly as I used to, I really appreciated the opportunity to review so many different defenses (especially stick—I hadn’t done that in quite awhile).  I also really liked the 3rd party gun drills at the end. They forced us to understand the basics of gun defenses and apply them to situations for which there may not be a set technique.  As an emergency manager by profession, I, too, often see my clients want to train or plan their way out of EVERY possible scenario.  The WTC attacks on 9-11 proved that is not possible.  We can’t predict everything.  The best that we can do is prepare for what we CAN predict and trust that our basic training, ingenuity, instinct, and adaptability will get us through those situations that we can’t predict.  The 3rd party drills were a good reminder of that.
